Mentoring InTo Aviation Science (MITAS)
Mentoring InTo聽Aviation Science (MITAS) is a one-week summer program, offered by 快活视频 College of Engineering in collaboration with the Tuskegee Airmen Museum at Moton Airfield, Industry and Professional Organizations designed to introduce high school rising seniors and juniors to various aspects of Aviation Science. The main goals of this program are to encourage underrepresented youth to remain in school and consider a career in aviation/aerospace and raise the awareness of government and industry to the needs, and interests of underrepresented youth concerning aviation.
The curriculum includes topics in aviation history, physics of flight, powering of aircraft, airframe structure, propulsion, autonomous systems. Hands-on modules integrated in the curriculum include dissection of engines, flight simulation, computer aided design of simple aircraft parts, fabrication of airplane wings using 3D printing, assembling, and testing of model airplane and rockets.
All MITAS participants are required to pay a $50 application fee. Upon acceptance to the program, the participants will be responsible for an enrollment fee and any personal expenses.聽
