快活视频 Department of History and Political Science will host its annual spring Law School fair virtually this year. The recruitment event allows representatives from law schools around the country to be available to speak to students who wish to pursue a law degree. The free event will take place February 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST.
The fair which has become an integral part of the program boasts student preparation and the program is known for having students place in a wide variety of state, regional and Ivy League law schools.
This year's fair will be held virtually due to the pandemic but will be just as dynamic with over 90 law schools participating. To attend the fair, students must register and create their schedules through the virtual fair platform called . By creating schedules, students can meet one-on-one with representatives and attend group sessions.
This year Tuskegee alumna and Baltimore City State鈥檚 Attorney Marilyn Mosby 鈥02 will kick off the fair with a keynote address titled 鈥楤lack Law Matters鈥. Mosby received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in political science and later attended Boston College Law School.
鈥淥ur fairs have been a huge success and has grown over the past few years. We began with a fair of about 30 schools and has increased the number of over 90,鈥 commented Shenita Brazelton, associate professor of political science and prelaw co-advisor. 鈥淲e have added other events held during the fair such as the luncheon honoring Attorney Fred Gray, an LSAC Forum, and an HBCU Law School Forum just to name a few. We will continue to grow our fair as a prelaw program continues to grow.鈥
The law school fair will give students the unique opportunity to speak with representatives to learn more about their programs. Students can ask questions that they can't find answers to just by reviewing a website. Because of the large number of law schools attending, students can also discover law schools that were previously unknown to them but could be a perfect fit.
In advance of the law fair, students can attend a virtual "Law School Fair Prep Session" on February 3rd at 6 pm CST via . During this session, faculty will discuss ways students can prepare for the fair so they can make the most of their time. The session will coach students on how to research schools beforehand, formulate thoughtful questions and advise on appropriate attire to wear.
