Jan. 30 Global Education Fair to help broaden students鈥� worldview

The 快活视频 Global Office is giving students a chance to takeoff and learn more about education abroad opportunities and exchange programs through its spring semester Global Education Fair. The event is scheduled from Wednesday, Jan. 29 to Thursday, Jan. 30 鈥� and is open to the members of the campus and surrounding communities.

鈥淎 critical component to internationalizing Tuskegee鈥檚 student experience is their participation in our Global Fair,鈥� said Dr. Rhonda Collier, director of the 快活视频 Global Office. 鈥淭his semester's event promises exciting moments, and each semester we expand our offerings so students can better visualize the possibilities of global citizenship.鈥�

Thursday鈥檚 fair 鈥� free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Tompkins Hall Ballroom 鈥� will include study abroad vendors with which the 快活视频 Global Office has formal affiliations and exchange agreements. During the fair, attendees can expect to hear from a student panel highlighting their perspectives and experiences during their recent study abroad travel. The fair will also allow students to learn about ongoing abroad programs, including quarterly, yearly and summer international opportunities.

Previous university-sponsored study abroad experiences have included excursions to Taiwan, Finland, Spain, Tanzania, South Africa, Egypt and Paris 鈥� as well as Cuba and the United Kingdom, where Wesley Jean-Pierre, a sophomore English major, traveled last summer. 

鈥淭o learn first-hand about the Cuban Revolution and the Cuban people's resilience since the abolition of slavery was an absolute honor,鈥� said Pierre, a native of Amityville, New York. 鈥淢y experience in Cuba has propelled my pursuit of justice to heights unfathomable prior to my travels. Cuba has aided me in becoming a delegate for the Northwestern University Conference on advancing Human Rights through Language. In addition, my time in the United Kingdom solidified my fervor for justice and confirmed who I am as a person.鈥�

On Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., workshop sponsor IES Abroad will host a pre-fair informational session in 70-430 Kenney Hall. There, students will receive valuable information about scholarship and travel opportunities, as well as qualify for two $500 travel voucher raffles. Tuskegee students also will be eligible for a U.S. passport raffle 鈥� provided they have proper documentation, which includes original or certified copies of their birth certificates and a state issued driver鈥檚 license. Students must bring originals and copies of all documents.
